News / Welcome Screen
The News screen is always the first one you see when logging in to OPAS Online. As the name implies, this screen is for messages for orchestra members and other uses of the system.

Click the Calendar button to navigate away from this screen.
Information on this screen is entered directly -- it does not come from OPAS. If your user account allows it, click System | News to enter a new item and to see all news items.

Calendar
The Calendar will always open to Today. You can choose from a Month, Week, or Daily view by selecting an option at the top left of the screen and clicking Go.
You can also jump to a specific week by clicking the Week number or a particular Day by clicking its number.

Boxes are color-coded to either match the colors your orchestra uses in OPAS, or with a user-defined 'rehearsal' color and 'performance' color.
The specific information you see in the Month, Week and Day view will vary depending upon how you have OPAS Online set up. Generally speaking, more detail is revealed as you move from month to week to day.
When in the Week or Day views, a navigation calendar in the upper right of the screen can be used to jump to any other point in the calendar.

Activity Details / Links
Click an activity link in any of the Calendar views to see detailed information.
The specific fields displayed, and the order in which they appear, is dictated by how you have configured OPAS Online. Generally speaking, activity details will be followed by the program and soloist.

Any field label in italics acts as a link to that item. For example, click the "Venue" link to see the address/phone/web map for that venue. Click the "Dress" link to see the details behind that dress code.

Setting Filters
Filters allow you to restrict information shown on Calendars and other screens -- you may want to see activities that take place in a certain venue, involve a certain conductor and/or belong to a certain program or project series.
Click the Set Filter link at the bottom center of any calendar screen and fill in the desired criteria. Then click the Apply Filter link at the bottom right of the screen. You will return to the previous calendar view, showing only those activities that meet your specified criteria.
The example shown at right would cause the calendar to display only activities associated with the orchestra's "MasterWorks" projects.

You can clear a filter by clicking the Show All Records link at the bottom of the screen.
All filters are automatically cleared when you close your web browser .

Printing Schedules
OPAS Online calendars can be printed out as simple schedules and any other customized reports or schedules your orchestra needs. The "Schedule Overview" report is a standard grid schedule that shows date/time/location information along with Conductor and Program (including rehearsal orders). Reports are generated by:
- Setting a filter if you only want to print certain activities (see the previous section for setting filters)
- Selecting the report from the drop-down in the upper right-hand corner
- Clicking the Go button

After a report is generated you can either open the report directly in your browser by clicking the Download link, or email the report to yourself (and anyone else) by filling out the fields and clicking Send.
