The Change Strings function consists of three files, contained in a self-extracting archive and located at the link below. Click or Right-click the link to download the self-extracting file to your computer desktop or another convenient location. When you double-click the downloaded ChangeStrings.exe file, a window will open that will ask the destination of the five files. Use the Browse button to locate the OPAS\PROGRAM folder on your server and click the large Unzip button at the top right of the window. (note that these files go to the "Program" folder and not the Report_Art folder as do reports) OPAS must be restarted on individual computers in order to see the new data function but you do NOT need to restart the server.

To quickly assign or change the string complement for a set of rehearsals and concerts 1) Isolate the activities to be changed. This example shows subscription rehearsals and concerts, but can just as easily be all baroque or other reduced-string activities, or those that take place in a different venue that requires different string seating: 2) From the List screen shown, click the Function icon (second from the left) and choose the Change Strings Function. Then click the large "Start Function" button. 3) At the next screen either type in the number of strings to be used (shown here) or choose a named string set 4) Click the green OK button 5) OPAS will confirm the number of "records" - meaning activities - for which the string complement will be changed. Click Yes to confirm this 6) The function will operate and will display a "Function Finished!" message box. Click OK and then Close to exit the function window. The Function will change the string count for all works programmed except for intermission(s). |
| REFINEMENTS / ADDITIONAL INFORMATION | You can always go back and change the string
count for a single work on a program, simply double-click that work in the
Program grid. Go to the Instrumentation screen and change the strings.
Click OK and Save those changes to related dates to save the changes to
the other rehearsals and concerts on which that work is programmed.
This function can be used to quickly augment the string complement for rehearsals in which you may have "cover" string players, and reduce the string complement for smaller venues, family concerts, etc. |
